Valentine’s Day
Well today I got a huge surprise! In the early evening whilst at work one of the security guards came up to me and presented me with a large gift wrapped present. His English is a long way from being fluent, and he managed to tell me the gift was for me, “Mr Steve”, and that someone had brought it to security from outside!
Somewhat perplexed, and embarrassed, I proceeded to open the present, to find a 2′ tall white teddy bear! There was no note, no card, no indication whatsoever of who it was from. Of course most of the people around me thought this was amusing and of course this just made me more embarrassed. Of course then Sudhi came over, to tease me. He asked who it was from, of course I didn’t know. He asked if the security guard knew, I said I didn’t think so. Sudhi then offered to go and speak to the security guard and when he came back, he said the same thing I’d already been told. Of course Sudhi wanted to take a photo (right), this was taken on my phone, so the quality is not great.
I was chatting to Jess, and told her what happened. At this point I was starting to get concerned. I could understand a mystery card turning up, or something small like a rose, or maybe a small teddy bear, but this was huge, and of good quality, whoever had bought this had paid a fair bit for it. I then wondered if this had come from Jess. But how would she do it? I checked the wrapping paper was made in India, the box had an Indian address on it, the bear was made in India. If it was from Jess, how could this be? Sudhi, was the answer, she could have arranged it with him. Of course she denied it at first, and Sudhi was playing the game, but eventually it turned out Sudhi and Nagalakshmi had been out to buy it for me at Jess’ request!
Well, they got me this time. I was thoroughly embarrassed at work!
